Cassidy Minarik

Cassidy Minarik is a cinematographer and documentary filmmaker based in Newburgh, NY. A graduate of the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, their award-winning short films such as Chiane from Far Rockaway and Baby Teeth have screened at festivals across the country. Beginning in the camera department loading 16mm reels, they developed a deep appreciation for the tactile and ephemeral nature of working with film, which continues to inform their process. They are drawn to capturing new narratives rooted in close collaboration with their subjects. Their work seeks to identify the quiet echoes of memory within the self that occur in our familiar places. Cassidy is the founder of Tincup Films, a documentary-centered production company dedicated to original, character-driven storytelling. They are currently on the festival circuit with Possum Town, a film they spent four years shooting in Columbus, Mississippi.
