Alex Prizgintas
Alex Prizgintas is a New York-based historian and musician who lives and works in the Hudson Valley. He serves as president of the Woodbury Historical Society, in addition to town historian of both Woodbury and Tuxedo in Orange County, and a board member of the Association of Public Historians of New York State. Contrasting his history background is Alex’s classical training on the cello. From local mics to a few scattered performances, he set on a dedicated path to produce what are now more than fourteen distinct cello shows. These push the limit of the classical cello through augmenting sound with guitar effect pedals, a looping station, and an amplifier. Each show has the added element of a narrative dialogue, using two voices to share stories about the melodies and melody makers. Alex is on the road more than 250 times each year, sharing his work in the Hudson Valley.
