| MEMBER OF THE WEEK Susan Hope Fogel Susan’s artistic journey began in Manhattan, where a sequence of classical and figure drawing courses laid a strong foundation in traditional realism. After moving to the Hudson Valley, she was deeply inspired by the natural landscape and the poetic quality of North Light, which led her to develop a love for still life and landscape painting using the prismatic palette. In 2015, she embraced a bold shift into experimental watercolor, influenced by contemporary artists in Harlem, which opened up new creative possibilities and earned her membership in the American Watercolor Society. Though her styles span from realism to abstraction, the constant in all of Susan’s work is her devotion to capturing the essence of light.
